*CLOSED* Kiwi Allergy-Friendly Food For Families Recipe Book Review and Giveaway WINNER: Sadie B.

As long as I can remember I have had food allergies. I am allergic to red dye, citric acid, peaches, nectarines, and most dairy products. My arch nemesis is eggplant. I am highly allergic to eggplant. Growing up my parents made eggplant parmesan all the time they loved it, but it didn’t love me.

When I first realized there was an issue I was about five years old. I didn’t know how to express to my parents that it was making me sick I just told my parents that I didn’t like it. My parents just figured it was nothing more than me being stubborn. They had no idea what was really going on. As I grew up I started having more problems with things like the citric acid. My stomach would be so acidic that milk would curdle in my stomach right after I drank it. Peaches and nectarines would make my throat and lips swell, and my allergic reaction to eggplant intensified.

A family member of mine decided that I just didn’t want to eat eggplant and decided to trick me and not tell me it was in a soup they were serving me. He wanted to “prove” to me that it was only in my head and something I conjured up as a kid. Clueless I took a big bite of the soup. It only took seconds for me to realize something was wrong. The first words out of my mouth were “does this have eggplant in it” boy was he shocked. My throat began to swell. I started sweating profusely and immediately got sick.

Allergies are no joke so when your children express a dislike to a food it’s important that you probe them for more information because their dislike to something maybe more just a personal dislike or a stubborn kid.

I was recently presented with an opportunity to try an allergy friendly Kiwi cookbook called “Allergy-Friendly Food for Families.”  This is a really great recipe book that gives you many options depending on what you or a family member is allergic to, and gives you some great tips on how to know if you are allergic to something. This is a very family friendly cookbook that has many recipes that will appeal to even your pickiest eaters.

Even if your family is lucky enough to not have food allergies you will still love the creative and innovative recipe ideas in this cookbook. My sister-in-law’s family has never had to worry about food allergies but after perusing the allergy friendly cookbook she ended up making her family buffalo green beans to have alongside their chicken that night for dinner. She even mention to me that she has found some other great recipes on the Allergy-Friendly Cooking Website.

My favorite recipe so far has been a recipe for making your own fresh almond milk. I buy it all the time in the grocery store, but I never thought about making it. It never even occurred to me. Almond can be expensive. It’s much more cost effective to make it yourself, plus you know exactly what is in it. I also noticed the flavor is better and it’s much creamier.

There are so many great recipes in this book like lemon chicken, chicken potpie, sushi, and raw summer peach tart yumm! The next recipe on our agenda is caramelized double-onion dip! Oh my!
